Steps to Prepare for Commencement
Declare your intent to graduate.
Anyone expecting to complete a degree this semester and/or who plans to participate in commencement (including those who completed a degree in December 2013, or will complete a degree in August 2014, and would like to take part in the May 2014 ceremony) should complete the "Apply to Graduate" application in the Student Center (via My UW).
In this application, students will indicate in which term they plan to complete their degree, and select which commencement ceremony they will attend; Ph.D., DMA, and MFA students will list faculty escort information. Master's and doctoral students should also contact their major program to request a degree warrant from the Graduate School.
Order your commencement attire.
Orders for academic attire should be made as early as possible on the University Book Store website; carefully review the timeline. Pick up rented attire at the University Book Store on Wednesday, May 14 or Thursday, May 15 and return it to Book Store personnel in the Kohl Center or Camp Randall Stadium immediately following the ceremony. You may also return attire to the University Book Store at 711 State Street on Monday, May 19.
Review the FAQs for your ceremony: Kohl Center or Camp Randall Stadium. Make a plan with your family to determine transportation, identify any necessary mobility or hearing accommodations for either the Camp Randall or Kohl Center ceremony and other events you may wish to attend.
