Ceremony & Venue Information

Spring 2019 Commencement Weekend

Two commencement ceremonies will be held in Spring 2019. No tickets are required for either ceremony and there is no limit to the number of guests a graduate may bring. Seating is first come, first served. All commencement events will be fully accessible. Friday, May 10th
Ceremony for PhD, MFA and Medical Degree Candidates ~ 5:30 pm at the Kohl Center

Doors will open 2 hours before the start of the ceremony. The ceremony is expected to last approximately 2 hours. Candidates will cross the stage, have their name read, and receive their diploma cover.  Guests should be aware of the Kohl Center carry-in policy and allow time for security screening. The Kohl Center ceremony will include the following degree programs: Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Musical Arts, Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Audiology, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Genetic Counselor Studies, Master of Physician Assistant Studies, Master of Public Health and Master of Comparative Biomedical Sciences.

Saturday may 11th
Ceremony for Bachelor’s, Law, and master’s degree candidates ~ 12, noon at camp randall stadium

Gates will open 2 hours before the start of the ceremony. Guests should be aware of the Camp Randall carry-in policy and allow time for security screening and to navigate the stadium. The ceremony is expected to last approximately 75 minutes and will include the following degree programs: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Social Work, Doctor of Juridical Science, Juris Doctor, Master of Accountancy, Master of Arts, Master of Business Administration, Master of Engineering, Master of International Public Affairs, Master of Laws, Master of Laws—Legal Institutions, Master of Music, Master of Professional French Studies, Master of Public Affairs, Master of Science and Master of Social Work


Graduates will have the opportunity to have their photos taken by Empire Photography during both commencement ceremonies. Photos will be made available within 48 hours of the ceremony. Please check back on our website, under Information for Graduates for more information to come!

The official degree conferral date that appears on the diploma for all Spring 2019 graduates will be Sunday, May 12, 2019.

Winter 2019 Commencement ceremony information

Doctoral, MFA, Professional, Master’s, and Bachelor’s Degree Candidates Ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kohl Center.  The ceremony is expected to last approximately 2 and a half hours.
