College of Engineering Celebration Events

On Friday, May 7 at 7:00pm central time, join us as we celebrate our May 2021 graduates with a virtual graduate recognition event. The event will include remarks from the College of Engineering dean and department chairs, acknowledgement of each graduate’s name, and a special graduate video compilation of student reflections. College of Letters and Science Celebration Event

The College of Letters & Science will send graduates a series of pre-recorded videos to commemorate your accomplishments. One video will include remarks from Dean Eric Wilcots and student speakers, and the other will feature a name scroll of all our L&S graduates.

Students who applied to graduate by the university’s deadline of April 9 will be featured in our L&S-specific PDF program and will have their names displayed in a separate video as well. L&S is also planning a mailing to graduates in the Summer of 2021.

Art History: A celebration of graduation will be held Friday, May 7, 2021; 3:00pm-5:00pm CDT (virtually)

Asian American Studies: Will be mailing graduation certificates and emailing a video to all graduates. Date to be determined.

Asian Languages & Cultures: Celebration 2021, Friday, April 30, 2021; 3:30pm CDT via Zoom

Astronomy: Astro-Physics Graduation, Friday, April 30, 2021; 3:00pm-4:00pm CDT via Zoom

Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences: A virtual AOS commencement celebration will be held. The event will be a combination of live addresses and some recorded segments. The celebration will be about an hour, and following the main celebration, there will be breakout rooms for students and their families to meet with faculty and staff. Integrative Biology (Biology Major): A slideshow of graduates will be available at biologymajor.wisc.edu from May 10-24, 2021. We will also send congratulations cards to the Spring 2021 graduates.

Chican@ & Latin@ Studies: Our virtual graduation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Noon CDT via Zoom.

Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies: Virtual Graduation Celebration – we recognize each graduate by name and offer them the opportunity to share any thoughts about their experience and future plans. Thursday, April 29, 2021; 5:00pm CDT

Communication Arts: Spring 2021 Virtual Graduation Thursday, May 6, 2021 (content will be emailed to students)

Computer Sciences (Professional Master’s Program): The Professional Master’s Program along with the Traditional Master’s/PhD program is holding a joint virtual reception on Saturday, May 8th at 12:00 pm CDT

Computer Sciences (Undergraduate Program): We will hold a few small virtual events. Students should be encouraged to check their email to sign up for a time slot on Friday May 7th or Saturday May 8th. These will include a chat with our department chair. We will also do a special slideshow of our graduates and a virtual program.

Anthropology: Graduation Event Link for the Zoom event will be created at a later date. This event will be recorded for those who cannot attend but wish to view later. At this event, our department chair will recognize the students graduating Spring 2021. Following her presentation, there will be time for faculty/instructors in our department to say some words, as well as, time for the graduating students and families to speak. Chemistry: We will showcase both award winning students and graduating students from the Department of Chemistry though a Celebrating Student Success webpage. There will be no live event other than the publication of this web page, which will include videos, photos and well-wishes from family, friends and mentors. Website opens to the public Friday, May 7, 2021 at 8 am CDT.

History: The department is planning to mail a packet of materials to our undergraduate students who are graduating.

Second Language Acquisition (Doctoral Program): End-of-Year-Celebration will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021; 2:00pm CDT (virtually)

Psychology: Graduation Celebration (undergraduates) We are creating a YouTube congratulatory video and electronic program that will be available on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 5:00pm CDT

Sociology: We are producing a graduation video featuring faculty, staff and names and photos of our graduates here https://sociology.wisc.edu/ We will make this video available on May 8, 2021.

Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement

The Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement (DDEEA) will hold a virtual celebration for our 350 graduating scholars at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, May 7, on YouTube. Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies Celebration Event

The Nelson Institute will host a virtual commencement celebration & scholarship recognition at 8:30am on Friday May 7th. This will include pre-recorded videos of well wishes from the Dean and other faculty and staff, a reading of the names from our academic advisors, and a congratulatory discussion board.
