School & College Events

The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences invites all graduate and undergraduates to our pre-commencement reception on Sunday, December 17 from 8:00-9:30 am in the Concerto Room in Gordon Dining and Event Center. Photo opportunities, refreshments and a celebration gift will be provided for all grads.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and Geological Engineering Program are hosting celebratory breakfast at Union South for fall 2023 graduates and their guests on Sunday, December 17. Breakfast will be served buffet-style from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., leaving plenty of time to travel to the Kohl Center for commencement, which begins at 10:00 a.m.

This event is free for graduating students and their guests, and registration is required by Friday, December 1.

The College of Letters & Science will hold an in-person Winter 2023 Pre-Commencement Celebration for L&S graduates and their families on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 4:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m. at Union South in Varsity Hall. There will be brief remarks by L&S Dean Eric Wilcots. Enjoy refreshments, a complimentary L&S alumni t-shirt, photos with Bucky, and a special performance by a UW-Madison a cappella group at this free event.

The School of Education is looking forward to celebrating Winter 2023 Graduates on December 17 from 7-9:30 am. This event will be hosted at Gordon Dining & Event Center and will include a celebratory program recognizing each graduate and a complimentary breakfast. 

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication is excited to celebrate all undergraduate and graduate December grads with a celebratory send-off on Wednesday, December 13 from 11 a.m.–noon in 5055 Vilas Hall. Many J-School faculty and staff will be in attendance and students are welcome to invite guests. The event will include light refreshments, photo opportunities, brief remarks and individual student recognition.

The School of Nursing will be holding the Nursing Winter Graduation Celebration on December 17, 2023, from 8:00-9:30AM at Gordon Dining and Events Center! This celebration precedes the Winter 2023 Commencement Ceremony at the Kohl Center. The School of Nursing Winter Graduation Celebration is a time to celebrate summer graduates, winter graduates, and winter Psychiatric Mental Health Certificate earners. Staff and faculty from each represented program will be in attendance and students are welcome to invite guests. Light breakfast items will be served. Brief remarks and student recognition will start at 8:45am.

The Department of Statistics invites all graduate and undergraduates to our pre-commencement reception on Friday, December 15 from 1:00-3:00 pm in the Service Memorial Institute (SMI) room 133. Photo opportunities, refreshments and a celebration gift will be provided for all grads.

The Wisconsin School of Business BBA Program would like to honor all undergraduate December grads with a fun send-off on Thursday, December 14 in the Grainger Hall – East Atrium. Photo opportunities, refreshments and a celebration gift will be provided for all December grads.
