Parking availability for Winter 2025 Commencement

Many campus parking lots will be free beginning the weekend of commencement. Complimentary shuttle service will be available on Sunday, December 14. The shuttle will run every 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and again from noon to 2 p.m. All shuttle busses are wheelchair accessible. A detailed map is available below.

Accessible parking at the Kohl Center is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit the Kohl Center accessibility page to learn more about accessible parking and accommodations.

The following map highlights parking lots and the shuttle route on the UW–Madison campus for 2025 Commencement weekend (Saturday, December 14–Sunday, December 15). It includes shuttle stop locations, ADA-accessible parking areas, and construction to help guests plan their visit.

Road closures

  • Left turn from N. Randall Ave. to Engineering Dr. closed.
    • Engineering Dr. is accessible via right turn off of southbound N. Randall Ave.
  • Lake St. from University Ave. to State St.:
    • Western sidewalk closed
    • Northbound traffic lane closed
    • Both bicycle lanes are closed and merge with traffic lanes
    • Traffic lanes are shifted and open to both north- and southbound traffic. Temporary protected walkway is available on east side of Lake St. Bicycles use caution when merging with traffic.
  • Far-right lane of W. Johnson St. closed from Davis Residence Hall to N. Park St.
  • Left lane of southbound N. Park St. closed before intersection with W. Johnson St.
  • Intersection of Coyne Ct. and Capitol Ct. closed.
  • Northbound lane of N. Brooks St. closed from Grainger Hall Garage (Lot 7) entrance to W. Johnson St.
    • Grainger Hall Garage (Lot 7) remains open. Turn left from University Ave. to southbound N. Brooks St. to access garage entrance. Exit Lot 7 by turning right onto northbound N. Brooks St. toward University Ave.

Shuttle route and stops

Complimentary shuttle service will be available on Sunday, December 14. The shuttle will run every 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and again from noon to 2 p.m. Shuttle route and stops are indicated on this map and below. All shuttle buses are wheelchair accessible.

  • Shuttle loop: The shuttle will travel east on Dayton Street beginning at N. Randall Avenue, turn north on N. Francis Street, turn east on University Avenue, and turn south on N. Randall Avenue.

Parking Lots

Lots 29, 46, 48, and 87 will have staff present starting at 7 a.m. on Sunday, December 14 to assist visitors with parking. Lots 48 and 87 are exclusively for ADA and accessible parking.

Restricted lots on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 14, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
